24-Hour Access Storage in Kansas City, KS (2026 Snapshot)

Kansas City, Kansas has six Public Storage pads and two StorageMart sites along State Ave, S 44th St and Southwest Blvd, but on research day only two advertised 24/7 access on their own facility pages: Public Storage on State Ave (66102) and on S 44th St (66106). Everything else we checked in the city listed access ending at 10:00 PM.

What stood out on research day

• Two Kansas City, KS pads carry Public Storage’s “24/7 Access Available” badge: 6600 State Ave (#1141) and 3150 S 44th St (#924). Both pages also list regular property and access hours of 6:00 AM–10:00 PM daily. Public Storage’s own FAQ says 24/7 access is “an added feature” at some properties and that availability varies, so ask whether it applies to your unit and whether it costs extra.
• S 44th St (#924) was the cheaper of the two. Swing-door drive-up units started at a 6×6 at $32/mo online ($42 in-store), with a 10×10 at $82 ($109) and a 10×15 at $84 ($112). It also listed uncovered 10×25 parking at $87 and enclosed drive-up from a 10×20 at $134. A property manager lives on site.
• State Ave (#1141) has more interior units. Inside units started at a 4×7 at $37 ($44), with a ground-floor inside 5×10 at $80. Its drive-up 10×10 was $125 ($147). Uncovered 10×25 parking was $70 / $73. A property manager lives on site.
• Sale prices are for the first months. Public Storage unit cards show the online rate as the monthly rent and the list rate as “Months 5–12 In-Store Rent.” A #924 10×10 at $82 goes back to $109. Every Public Storage rental adds a one-time $29 admin fee.
• The other four Public Storage pads close at 10:00 PM with no 24/7 badge. 2806 S 44th St, 5500 State Ave, 7221 State Ave and 235 N 78th St all listed access 6:00 AM–10:00 PM and no facility-level 24/7 badge on research day.
• StorageMart is ask-the-manager, not a promise. Both SpareFoot facility pages list a 24-hour access amenity, but both still show access hours 6:00 AM–10:00 PM. State Ave’s amenity text adds “with manager approval, for an additional monthly fee.” Treat that as a question for the manager, not a guarantee.
• Need hours published as 24 hours, not just a badge? Just across the state line, Smart Storage KC on W 31st St lists access hours as 24 Hour Access daily and tags climate units “24 hour access” (10×10 $105 on SpareFoot).

Both still list 6:00 AM–10:00 PM regular hours, so ask how after-hours entry works before you sign. If you need hours published as 24 hours (not just a badge), Smart Storage KC across the state line is the closest we found.

What “24-hour access” means here

1. A facility badge is not the same as a unit tag. #924 and #1141 show “24/7 Access Available” at the facility level, but none of their unit cards carried a “24hr Access” tag on research day. Smart Storage KC showed access hours as 24 hours and tagged units “24 hour access.”
2. Regular hours still apply to most renters. Both Public Storage 24/7 pages on this list showed 6:00 AM–10:00 PM access next to the badge. Ask whether 24/7 entry is automatic, needs approval, or costs extra.
3. Listing sites filter loosely. SpareFoot’s Kansas City, KS 24-hour page includes StorageMart pads whose amenity text still points at manager approval (State Ave) and whose access hours read 6:00 AM–10:00 PM. Go by what the facility tells you.
4. Late access matters most for drive-up units. #924’s cheapest units are outside drive-up, so after-hours visits mean parking at your door. #1141’s interior units use building doors, so ask whether the building is open after hours too, not just the gate.

• Ask whether 24/7 access applies to the specific unit you’re renting, or only to some units
• Ask whether after-hours access costs extra or needs manager approval (especially at StorageMart)
• For indoor units, ask whether the building doors are open after hours, not just the gate

• Budget the $29 admin fee (Public Storage / StorageMart on SpareFoot) or $45 (Smart Storage KC) and any required protection plan
• Check gate code rules, lighting and cameras if you plan to visit late at night

Kansas City, KS practical tips

• Two sides of town. S 44th St (66106) is south KCK; State Ave and N 78th St (66102 / 66112) are the west and central corridor; Southwest Blvd (66103) sits by the state line near Rosedale.
• Cheaper without the badge. Public Storage at 2806 S 44th St (#6267) had a drive-up 10×10 at $95 with no 24/7 badge — fine if you don’t need after-hours entry.
• Sale pricing is a timing play. #924’s 10×10 at $82 and #1141’s interior 4×7 at $37 were below the months 5–12 in-store rate on research day. If you’ll store longer than four months, compare the list rate too.
