24-Hour Access Storage in Shawnee, KS (2026 Snapshot)

If you work nights, keep tools or inventory in a unit, or load out after a late shift, gate hours matter more than the sticker price. We checked ten storage facilities in Shawnee, and on research day only two advertised 24/7 access on their own facility pages: Public Storage on W 63rd Street (66216, east Shawnee near Quivira) and on Hedge Lane Terrace (66226, west Shawnee off K-7). Everything else we checked in the city listed access ending at 10:00 PM.

What stood out on research day

• Two Shawnee pads carry Public Storage’s “24/7 Access Available” badge: W 63rd St (#1073) and Hedge Lane Terrace (#1137). Both pages also list regular property and access hours of 6:00 AM–10:00 PM daily, and both say a property manager lives on site. Ask whether 24/7 entry applies to your unit and whether it costs extra.
• Hedge Lane had the cheapest 10×10 of the two. A drive-up 10×10 was $49/mo online ($98 list) and a drive-up 10×15 was $55 ($110), both on a Halloween sale. It is also the only badge pad in Shawnee that listed a climate-controlled unit: an inside 10×10 at $59 ($118).
• W 63rd St is all outside units. It listed a 5×10 at $34/mo online ($68), a 10×10 at $54 ($108), roll-up drive-up 10×16 at $69 ($138) and 10×24 at $71 ($142), plus uncovered vehicle parking from $55 (10×24) and an RV/boat/vehicle space (10×25) at $68 ($136). Every unit there was on the Halloween sale.
• Sale prices are for the first four months. Public Storage unit cards show the online rate as the monthly rent and the list rate as “Months 5–12 In-Store Rent.” A Hedge Lane 10×10 at $49 goes back to $98. Units marked “$1 first month” charge $1 for month 1, then the online rate. Every Public Storage rental adds a one-time $29 admin fee.
• StorageMart W 43rd St closes at 10:00 PM. Its operator page says access closes at 10:00 PM and makes no 24-hour claim, but SpareFoot’s “24 hour storage in Shawnee” page still lists it (and StorTropolis on W 66th Terrace). Treat both as a question for the manager, not a promise.
• Need a unit tagged for 24-hour access? The closest we found is just east in Merriam. Public Storage at 7100 W Frontage Rd tagged two drive-up units “24hr Access”: a 10×10 at $76/mo online ($152) and a 10×24 at $99 ($198). Both were up from $61 and $94 the day before.

Its Vista Dr figures (10×10 $67) didn’t match any unit card on the operator page, so we used the operator prices.

Takeaway: For 24/7 access inside Shawnee, start with Public Storage on Hedge Lane Terrace if you want the lowest drive-up 10×10 ($49 online) or a climate unit, or W 63rd St if you live in east Shawnee or need vehicle parking. Both still list 6:00 AM–10:00 PM regular hours, so ask how after-hours entry works before you sign. If you need a unit that is explicitly tagged for 24-hour access, Merriam’s W Frontage Rd location is the closest we found.

Web prices exclude the $29 admin fee, insurance (protection plans), tax and later rate changes. Most of these were Halloween sale rates at about half of list, and the unit card shows list price as the rent from month 5.

What “24-hour access” means here

1. A facility badge is not the same as a unit tag. W 63rd St and Hedge Lane show “24/7 Access Available” at the facility level, but none of their unit cards carried a 24-hour tag on research day. Merriam’s W Frontage Rd showed the badge and tagged two specific units “24hr Access.”
2. Regular hours still apply to most renters. Every Public Storage page on this list showed 6:00 AM–10:00 PM access next to the badge. Ask whether 24/7 entry is automatic, needs approval, or costs extra.
3. Listing sites filter loosely. SpareFoot’s 24-hour Shawnee page lists 19 facilities, mostly StorageMart pads in other cities, and includes StorageMart W 43rd, whose own page says access closes at 10:00 PM. Go by what the facility tells you.
4. Late access matters most for drive-up and parking. Both badge pads are mostly outside units, so after-hours visits mean parking at your door. If you rent Hedge Lane’s inside climate 10×10, ask whether the building is open after hours, not just the gate.

Verify checklist (before you rent)

• Ask whether 24/7 access applies to the specific unit you’re renting, or only to some units
• Ask whether after-hours access costs extra or needs manager approval
• For inside climate units, ask whether the building doors are open after hours, not just the gate
• Ask whether the online price is still live and what the rate becomes after month 4
• Budget the $29 admin fee (Public Storage) or the 2.5% card fee (StorageMart) and any required protection plan
• Check gate code rules, lighting and cameras if you plan to visit late at night

Shawnee practical tips

• East Shawnee vs west Shawnee. W 63rd St (66216) is near Quivira and the Merriam/Mission line. Hedge Lane Terrace (66226) is out west near K-7 and Shawnee Mission Pkwy. If you live near I-35, the Merriam and Mission badge pads may be closer than Hedge Lane.
• Hours changed since our drive-up guide. On 2026-10-02 we recorded Public Storage Hedge Lane as closing at 9:00 PM. Its page now lists 6:00 AM–10:00 PM.
• Sale pricing is a timing play. Hedge Lane’s 10×10 at $49 and W 63rd’s 10×24 at $71 were half of list on research day. If you’ll store longer than four months, compare the list rate too.
• Earliest gate in town: U-Haul on Silverheel St opens at 5:00 AM, an hour before the others. That’s an earlier start, not 24/7.
• Not verified: StorTropolis’s site blocked our page fetch, and Extra Space’s own site did too, so their hours here come from listing sites. Call them to confirm.
