StorageMart’s two KCK sites had drive-up units on research day but no uncovered parking on SpareFoot.

What stood out on research day

• Cheapest uncovered space: Public Storage, 2806 S 44th St (66106). A 10×20 uncovered parking space at $62 ($78 in-store). Fine for a car, small boat on a trailer or a short trailer. The same pad also listed 10×30 $87, 10×40 $114 and a wide 20×30 $164.
• Cheapest ~25 ft uncovered: Public Storage, 6600 State Ave (66102). 10×25 uncovered spaces from $70 ($82), with a second at $73 ($86). Public Storage at 3150 S 44th St also had a 10×25 at $87 ($116).
• Enclosed vehicle bays. Public Storage labels some roll-up units “available for enclosed vehicle storage” or “Boat or Vehicle.” The cheapest ~20 ft we saw was $145 at 6600 State Ave (SpareFoot) and $158 at 3150 S 44th St. Longer enclosed bays ran into the $170–$293 range.
• No covered / carport parking. None of the KCK facilities on this page listed covered parking on research day.
• Gates close at 10 PM. Every facility here posts gate access 6:00 AM–10:00 PM daily. Public Storage shows a “24/7 Access Available” badge at 6600 State Ave and 3150 S 44th St; ask what it takes to get it.
• StorageMart: drive-up only on research day. State Ave and Southwest Blvd listed drive-up units on SpareFoot, but no outdoor parking spaces. Ask the facility if a drive-up bay can hold your vehicle.

Price ladder (online prices seen, cheapest first)

Public Storage web prices often follow a $1 first month, 50% off first month or 2nd month free offer, and the in-store / list rate in parentheses is what you can expect later. Prices exclude admin fees (often $29 on SpareFoot), deposits, required insurance or protection plans, tax and later rate changes. Many sizes showed only 1–3 left.

Uncovered vs enclosed

• Uncovered parking is a marked outdoor space. It’s the cheapest option, but sun, hail and snow hit your vehicle. A good cover helps.
• Enclosed bays are drive-up units with a roll-up door. Public Storage and SpareFoot label some “available for enclosed vehicle storage” or “Boat or Vehicle”. Measure door width and height first — many RVs won’t fit a standard roll-up door.
• Covered (carport) parking: none listed in Kansas City, KS on research day.

Size / length checklist before you tow

• Measure total length including the tongue and hitch, not just the boat or the RV body
• Ask if the listed length is the space or the maximum vehicle length
• For enclosed bays, confirm door height and width
• Ask about turning room for backing in a trailer

• Bring registration, proof of insurance and title. SpareFoot lists these as required at Public Storage vehicle facilities, and the vehicle must be drivable
• Confirm the online price is still live and what rent becomes after the first-month promo
• Budget the admin fee and any required insurance or protection plan
• Check gate hours: 6:00 AM–10:00 PM at every facility on this page; ask about 24/7 at 6600 State Ave or 3150 S 44th St if you need it
• At StorageMart and at Public Storage N 78th St, confirm the unit can hold a vehicle before you reserve
