Vehicle, Boat & RV Storage in Liberty & Kearney, MO (2026 Snapshot)

Liberty, along Route 291, Old Highway 210 and S La Frenz Rd, and Kearney, up I-35 along N Jefferson St (MO-33) and MO-92, are where many Clay County households keep campers, boats and trailers. Smithville Lake is about 10 miles northwest of Kearney, and many HOAs limit driveway parking. This page covers outdoor, covered and enclosed parking for RVs, boats, trailers and cars. This page was researched on 2026-10-09 from operator, brand and listing pages. It is a snapshot, not a live inventory feed. Spaces fill and web rates change, so call or check the facility page before you tow anything over.

What stood out on research day

• Kearney West Storage (15215 MO-92) posted the lowest RV/boat prices we found. Its rent page listed outside 12×40 spaces at $40/mo (Farm Lot and RV Building Lot) and $50/mo (next to the Fair Point building), plus an electronically gated outside West Lot 12×40 at $85/mo. For covered spaces it listed a 40×11 carport at $110, a 12×42×18 covered RV space at $135 and a 45×12×14 covered RV space at $160. The $110 and $135 covered spaces showed Waiting List; the outside lots said to contact them for availability. The site advertises 24-hour access.
• North Kearney Storage (1120 N Jefferson) listed vehicle/RV parking at $60–$65/mo: 12×22 $60, 12.5×25 $65, 12×30 $65 (StorageCafe). It also listed enclosed 10×30 $155, 11×30 $160 and 11×32 $165 first-floor units. The listing calls it an unstaffed location.
• Liberty Bend Storage (1122 Old Hwy 210) is the clearest priced RV lot in Liberty: 10×20 $60, 10×30 $85, 10×40 $119 outdoor RV/boat spaces, plus a 10×20 drive-up vehicle unit at $125 (StorageCafe; every row said “Call for Availability”). Its own site lists vehicle storage access 6:00 AM–10:00 PM daily.
• Both Attic Storage pads on Route 291 advertise RV, car and boat parking. Liberty North (701 N) also lists 12×40 high-door units for oversized vehicles and trailers, and Liberty South (317 N) lists oversized 10×30, 12×30 and 40×40 high-door units. Prices didn’t load on Attic’s pages. StorageCafe showed a 10×20 vehicle space at Liberty North for $90/mo; Liberty South’s vehicle space price wasn’t shown.
• Want indoor or powered spaces near Smithville Lake? RecNation’s Smithville lot (18316 Collins Rd, about 9.6 miles from Kearney per RecNation) listed outdoor uncovered 12×20 $74, 12×30 $89 and 12×45 $99 web rates, and indoor garages from $240 (12×20) up to $371 (12×40). Its covered canopy spaces were sold out on research day.

Takeaway: For the cheapest posted outdoor RV or boat space, call Kearney West Storage first ($40–$50 for a 12×40 outside lot, $85 gated) and compare North Kearney Storage ($60–$65 for spaces up to 12×30). In Liberty, Liberty Bend posts RV spaces from $60 (10×20) to $119 (10×40), and the two Attic Storage pads have outdoor parking plus high-door units if you want your rig behind a door. Price context

Web and listing prices usually exclude admin fees, insurance, tax and later rate increases. RecNation showed a web rate about $20 below its “from” rate on every space.

Covered vs uncovered (Clay County weather)

1. Uncovered lot: the cheapest option and the easiest to pull in and out of. Sun, hail and ice are on you. Most of the posted prices on this page are for uncovered spaces.
2. Covered carport or canopy: a roof for hail and UV protection, but the sides are open. Kearney West had two of its three covered options on a waiting list, and RecNation’s canopy spaces were sold out, so get on a list early.
3. Enclosed / high-door unit or garage: the best protection, and the right choice for classic cars. Attic’s 12×40 and 40×40 high-door units, North Kearney’s 30–32 ft enclosed units and RecNation’s indoor garages are the options here. Check door height before you commit.
4. Power at the space: RecNation Smithville lists 3-, 30- and 50-amp spaces. No other facility here advertised power at a vehicle space.

Length checklist before you tow

Measure overall length, including the hitch, and have that number ready when you call.

Verify checklist (before you rent)

• Confirm the space is open, covered or enclosed, and whether the surface is paved or gravel
• Confirm the space length and width against your rig, including the hitch and any motor
• Ask whether the posted price is current and the space is actually open. Several spaces here showed a waiting list or “call for availability”
• Confirm gate hours for vehicle areas. Liberty Bend’s site gives 6 AM–10 PM in one place and says the vehicle area is available during office hours in another, so ask
• Ask about 24-hour access in writing if you leave early for the lake
• Bring title, registration and proof of insurance. Ask whether the vehicle must run and be tagged
• Ask about rules on batteries, propane and fuel, and whether you can wash or work on the vehicle on site

Liberty & Kearney practical tips

• Kearney West’s prices vary by lot. The $40 Farm Lot and RV Building Lot, the $50 Fair Point lot and the $85 West Lot (described as electronically gated) are different spaces. Ask which lot has the gate and lighting you want.
• Liberty Bend is just off Route 291 / MO-210 on the south side of Liberty, which is handy if you head toward I-435 or east on MO-210.
• Attic’s Route 291 pads are the only Liberty facilities here that combine outdoor parking with high-door enclosed units. Prices weren’t shown on Attic’s own pages, so call or reserve online.
• Sold out doesn’t mean no. RecNation showed waitlists on its canopy and smallest spaces. Kearney West showed waiting lists on covered spaces. Ask to be added and how long the wait is.
• Not listed here: Bulldog Storage in Kearney says RVs, boats and trailers can’t be accommodated. StorageMart on N Church Rd doesn’t show RV, car or boat parking. Public Storage on N Stewart Rd showed no vehicle spaces online on research day. Its largest drive-up units were a 10×20 at $170 and a 10×25 at $175, so ask whether you can keep a vehicle in one. Sure Lock Storage on MO-92 had conflicting addresses across listings and no current details, so we couldn’t verify it.
