24-Hour Access Storage in Lee's Summit, MO (2026 Snapshot)

If you work nights along I-470 / Hwy 50 / 291, keep tools in a unit, or load out after a late shift, gate hours matter more than the sticker price. We checked Public Storage, seven StorageMart pads, U-Haul and nearby spillover in Lee’s Summit. On research day only one facility advertised a facility-level “24/7 Access Available” badge on its own page: Public Storage on NE Douglas Street (64086). Two StorageMart pads (Jones Industrial and Hwy 50) say 24-hour access is available on request or with approval, while their default access still closes at 10:00 PM. Everything else we could read in the city listed access ending at 10:00 PM or earlier.

What stood out on research day

• One Lee’s Summit pad carries Public Storage’s “24/7 Access Available” badge: NE Douglas (#5473). The page also lists property and access hours of 6:00 AM–10:00 PM daily, and says a property manager lives on site. Ask whether 24/7 entry applies to your unit and whether it costs extra.
• Douglas is all indoor climate on the unit cards we saw. A climate 10×10 was $55/mo online ($110 list, elevator) or $60 ($120 near door) on a Halloween sale — well below the ~$157 class we recorded on the climate guide in September. Small climate floors: 5×3 $31, 5×5 $35–$36, 10×5 $46–$53.
• Two StorageMart pads explicitly offer overnight access as an upgrade. Jones Industrial FAQ: “24-hour access is also available upon request.” Hwy 50 FAQ: “does offer 24-hour access with approval” (ask for pricing). Both still advertise standard access that closes at 10:00 PM.
• Sale prices are for the first four months at Public Storage. Unit cards show the online rate as the monthly rent and the list rate as “Months 5–12 In-Store Rent.” A Douglas 10×10 at $55 goes back to $110. Every Public Storage rental adds a one-time $29 admin fee. StorageMart adds a 2.5% credit card processing fee.
• SpareFoot’s “24 hour storage in Lees Summit” page lists 19 facilities, mostly StorageMart pads — including Rice Rd and Port Dr, whose own pages say access closes at 10:00 PM and make no overnight claim. Treat the filter as a question for the manager, not a promise.
• Need a cheaper outdoor 10×10 with a 24/7 badge? Public Storage at 5601 E 112th Terrace (Kansas City, MO, south of LS toward Grandview) had a drive-up 10×10 at $59/mo online ($118 list) with the badge. Blue Springs S 7 Hwy and Raytown Woodson also carry the badge.

Takeaway: For a facility-level 24/7 badge inside Lee’s Summit, start with Public Storage on NE Douglas — climate 10×10 at $55 online on research day, but still ask how after-hours entry works because regular hours list 6:00 AM–10:00 PM. If you want overnight access at a StorageMart pad, ask the manager at Jones Industrial or Hwy 50 (both say 24-hour is available on request/approval). For a cheaper outdoor 10×10 with a badge, E 112th Terrace in Kansas City, MO ($59) is the closest we found.

Web prices exclude the $29 admin fee (Public Storage), the 2.5% card fee (StorageMart), insurance, tax and later rate changes. Douglas Halloween sale rates are about half of list; the unit card shows list as the rent from month 5.

What “24-hour access” means here

1. A facility badge is not the same as a unit tag. Douglas shows “24/7 Access Available” at the facility level, but none of its unit cards carried a “24hr Access” tag on research day.
2. Regular hours still apply to most renters. Douglas lists 6:00 AM–10:00 PM access next to the badge. StorageMart’s overnight option is on request / with approval, not automatic.
3. Listing sites filter loosely. SpareFoot’s 24-hour Lees Summit page includes StorageMart Rice and Port, whose own pages say access closes at 10:00 PM. Go by what the facility tells you.
4. Indoor climate after hours. Douglas is all indoor climate on the cards we saw. Ask whether the building doors are open after hours, not just the outer gate.
5. RV parking ≠ self-storage. Lee’s Summit RV Storage markets true 24/7/365 for vehicle pads — useful for boats/RVs, not a substitute for a 10×10 climate unit.

Verify checklist (before you rent)

• Ask whether 24/7 access applies to the specific unit you’re renting, or only to some units
• Ask whether after-hours access costs extra, needs manager approval, or is by application
• For inside climate units, ask whether the building doors are open after hours, not just the gate
• Ask whether the online price is still live and what the rate becomes after month 4 (Public Storage) or after the promo
• Budget the $29 admin fee (Public Storage) or the 2.5% card fee (StorageMart) and any required protection plan
• Check gate code rules, lighting and cameras if you plan to visit late at night

Lee’s Summit practical tips

• North vs south vs Hwy 50. Douglas (64086) sits near I-470 / Colbern. Jones Industrial (64064) is toward Lakewood / Jacomo. Hwy 50 (64063) and Oldham (64081) serve the south / Raintree / Lotawana side. Pick the corridor you actually drive at night.
• Hours changed since our drive-up guide. On 2026-09-04 we recorded Public Storage Douglas as closing at 9:00 PM. Its page now lists 6:00 AM–10:00 PM plus the 24/7 badge.
• Sale pricing is a timing play. Douglas’s climate 10×10 at $55 was half of list on research day. If you’ll store longer than four months, compare the list rate too.
• Earliest standard gate in town: U-Haul on Deerbrook opens at 5:00 AM, an hour before most others. That’s an earlier start, not 24/7.
• Not verified today: Jefferson Street Storage, Extra Space and Storage Rentals of America (NE Sloan) blocked our page fetch. Call them if you need those pads.
